Pre-Symposium - Introduction to Collaborative Response

    • Kurtis Hewson - Lead Learner/Co-Founder, Jigsaw Learning
    • It is virtually impossible for a teacher to know how to successfully provide instruction and support for all students in diverse, inclusive contemporary classrooms. In this introductory session, participants will learn about Collaborative Response, a mindset for educational organizations that values collaborative, action focused responses, data-informed discussions, and timely support to ensure all students can experience success. Come learn how school administration and inclusive learning support leadership teams establish school-wide structures to ensure support for every student in our schools and across our districts. Numerous school and district examples, as well as access to a myriad of resources will be provided.

Opening Keynote - Fundamental Shifts for Collaborative Response - Kurtis and Lorna Hewson

    • In 2015, Envisioning a Collaborative Response Model was published and since that time, a large number of schools and districts have engaged in the work of establishing and deepening the work within their organizations. Through that work and ongoing engagement with educators at all levels, we've learned a lot! This learning has led to several fundamental shifts in our thinking, as we've moved from a model to a mindset for Collaborative Response. In the opening keynote for the Symposium, Kurtis and Lorna share the fundamental shifts to Collaborative Response made over the past five years and the incredible impact these shifts have made in relation to understanding, adopting and refining Collaborative Response across schools and systems throughout Alberta and beyond!

When you register you will receive 2 pages of ephemera you can print and cut out to decorate your journal prior to the session.
