EIPS Continues Phased Introduction of Collaborative Response in Year Three of Multi-Year Support Plan

As Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) enters year three of its multi-year support plan, the district will continue expanding the Collaborative Response framework to a new cohort of schools. This work will focus on enhancing leadership and staff understanding of Collaborative Response to ensure consistent support for all students.

Key elements of the support plan include:

  • Collaborative Response Overview Session: Staff from interested schools will participate in a morning session led by Kurtis Hewson, designed to create a unified, school-wide understanding of Collaborative Response.
  • Leadership Team Sessions: A new cohort of Year 1 schools will form teams of 3-6 participants, including the school principal, to engage in four half-day leadership sessions. These sessions will focus on the implementation of Collaborative Response at the school level.

This initiative underscores EIPS' commitment to providing inclusive support for every student through a collaborative and structured approach.

“As we move into year three, I’m excited to support EIPS staff and leaders as they deepen their understanding of Collaborative Response to ensure every student receives the support they need,"

- Kurtis Hewson, Lead Learner/Co-Founder of Jigsaw Learning
“We’re excited to continue our partnership with Kurtis Hewson and Jigsaw Learning. The Collaborative Response framework aligns with our mission of providing high-quality, student-centered education. As we move forward, we look forward to reflecting on our practice and refining our processes.”

- Kari Huk, Assistant Director, Supports for Students
