How can system leaders use Collaborative Response to better support schools, staff, and students?
In this episode of Leading Collaborative Response, Kurtis and Lorna Hewson are joined by Kari Huk and Corey Kropp, Assistant Directors of Supports for Students with Elk Island Public Schools. Together, they explore how Collaborative Response structures and processes have been used at the system level to redesign service delivery, respond to school feedback, and strengthen supports for students across the division.
Kari and Corey share practical insights into how their team:
- Shifted service delivery models based on school feedback
- Used Collaborative Response to organize and model system-level collaboration
- Leveraged early dismissal “Collaborative Wednesdays” to align supports
- Strengthened multidisciplinary team meetings for system program classrooms
- Ensured every student is “on the radar” through team-based, responsive practices
This conversation is especially valuable for district leaders, principals, inclusive education leaders, and system teams looking to build alignment, collective efficacy, and meaningful collaboration between central office and schools.
